Michael_Jackson_Talk_Radiocapitalhen driving North from Los Angeles, along the spectacularly rugged Route One, past Santa Barbara, you can't help but notice the several oil rigs that appear to be built somewhere between the coastline and the horizon. They are not a pretty sight. If, God forbid, an accidental spill ,such as that which the world has been watching for the past month, in the Gulf of Mexico, the consequences could well be disastrous for the coastline towns, villages, economy, health, many an industry, wild life, human life and the the health of wildlife. Until the moment by moment reporting on how BP is trying to correct the dangerous flow of oil to the surface and then spreading many miles along the coast line, I had not realized how enormous the constructions are. The rig that burned and sank was almost 400 by 250 feet. Many are much larger. In the Gulf of Mexico alone there are at least 4,000 such platforms.

Michael_Jackson_Talk_Radiocapitalathew Lynn writing for Bloomberg.com, when speaking of the dire situation the Greek economy appears to be facing wrote, "You cant stabilize a sinking ship". The leaders of the European Union have agreed and it appears, they will be pitching something approaching one TRILLION dollars to attempt a shoring up of the Greek crisis. The bailout will change or resolve very little, if anything,.

Michael_Jackson_Talk_Radiocapitalhortly before President Benigno Aquino of the Philippines was assassinated back in 1983, he was an in-studio guest on my nationally broadcast talk show. He was a good guest ; outspoken, bright, ambitious and a pain to the ranks of the opposition. Seated quietly in the back of our large main studio sat his wife. Soon thereafter she was his widow. She then went on to become his successor as President. A family affair which saw the birth of a dynasty. A family affair which saw Corazon Aquino become President from 1986 until 1992, And the succession continues. Now their son, known as "Noy, Noy", recently won the Philippines presidential elections in a landslide. I wish him well.
